We have all had those days of being in an emotional, “funk.” You have the feeling that something is just not right or you just don’t feel like yourself. A lot of times you just feel cranky, annoyed or hopeless. The last 3 or 4 days that is exactly what I have been feeling. Webster actually defines funk as, “dread,” or, “avoidance.”

I am a very positive person. Usually this feeling is random to me. I rarely deal with it by lashing out at others. I have a tendency to withdraw and become quiet. The fact is, this is a place that lacks joy and is very frustrating and uncomfortable. For me, the longer I stay there the worse I feel. You are probably the same way. A quote from Oprah states, “If you get mud in your wings you cannot fly.” Sometimes it feels just like that. Stuck in the mud!

So how do we climb out of this bitter pit? Put on a tiara! Yes, you heard that right! Proverbs 3: 6 states, “In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success!” God’s got a tiara with your name on it! You can’t remain bogged down in the mud when you put God first. Ask God what to dwell on. His word is chocked full of encouragement! It is divine encouragement that has supernatural power to pull you out of your pity party.

You can also seek out laughter! I watched a comedy movie the other day and it did help me. The word also says that laughter is medicine to the soul! Fill your mind with positives and help someone else. This gets you out of your own problems if only for a few moments. So there are 4 things you can do right there! By the way, I try to take my own advice so I have some level of credibility!

Another favorite scripture of mine also comes from Proverbs 3, verses 21 and 22. “Have two goals: wisdom – that is, knowing and doing right - and common sense. Don’t let them slip away, for they will fill you with living energy and bring you honor and respect.” Sometimes I come across scriptures like that and I just have to say, “Is that really in the Bible?” What great goals that result in having energy and earning respect! So apply some of these tips and put on your tiara. And if you want to…add a little royal wave!
