It’s pretty hard to consistently looking at the bright side of life. But it sure makes the journey more vibrant when you do. Here are 4 tips and 2 assignments to make your week a vibrant one! We will use the acrostic, “LIFE.”

L…Look at Your Own Attitude and See What Needs to Change. There are times we find ourselves in a bad mood and we don’t even know why. Sometimes we are acting selfish and sometimes we just completely over react. When you find yourself in this mode…stop. Stop and ask yourself what feeling you are having and why. Is the situation going to even matter tomorrow? If not; let it go. God’s word says he hates selfish ambition. Life is about everyone in your pathway not just you.

I…Invest in Others. The best way to get away from your own troubles and depression is to invest in others. Do a good deed. Smile and speak to every person you make eye contact with. Here’s an assignment for you this week. Grab a pen and sheet of paper.

This assignment is called, “7 Days/7Names.” Write down 7 names. These are folks you want to do something for. It may be your husband or child or colleague or a friend. You could send a note, make a special lunch, call them, do a favor, or bake some brownies. Write down each day of the week and assign a name to each day. Then write down what you will do. You will be surprised how good you feel and it will brighten the lives of others in the process.

F…Focus on What You Like About Yourself and Life. We really don’t take the time to identify what we like about ourselves. Assignment: Get a beverage, take a break, and go outside with a notepad and pen. Being outside just helps us feel refreshed and alive. Write down the top ten things you like about yourself. Don’t focus on physical attributes. Focus on character. Are you honest, punctual, friendly, kind, a great parent? Look at this list everyday.

E…Enlist a Dream Team. Remember hearing the saying, “You are the Company You Keep?” This is a very true statement. Do your friends encourage you? Are they ambitious? Are they gossips? Hang out with people who are upbeat not complainers or whiners. Here’s a great quote: “The key is to keep company only with those that call forth your best.” Epictetus.

Live in the moment. Stop and smell the roses….really. Do kind things for others. Assume positive intentions and you will feel refreshed in your mind a spirit.
